Information:
Three print runs for the Garbage Pail Kids 2nd series were produced. The first print run was released with a slow response to the public. It has puzzle pieces with Leaky Lindsay / Messy Tessie, and 49B was Schizo Fran. With interest growing, Topps produced more 2nd series to meet the demands of the public. The second print run had puzzle pieces with Jolted Joel / Live Mike, and 49B was still Schizo Fran. A third print run was released also, to meet the supply and demand of these cards. The third print run had puzzle pieces with Jolted Joel / Live Mike, and 49B was changed to Fran Fran. The term "schizophrenic" is a clinical term and very controversial, so Topps was eventually pressured to change it. The Fran Fran card is not rare, but it is slightly less common than the Schizo Fran card. Because of the name change for 49B, the checklists were changed, also. Most card dealers do not sell United States Garbage Pail Kids 2nd series variation sets of 131 but usually sell sets from certain print runs containing the variations available in that print run. If you were to try and piece together a variation set of 131 by purchasing sets from different print runs, it would be best to purchase a set from the first print run and the third print run because the second print run does not contain the Fran Fran variation or checklist changes.

• Printed with a Matte and Gloss back (Matte is production error)
• Only series to change a puzzle (Messie Tessie to Jolted Joel/Live Mike)
• First series to have the GPK header with the ® (registered trademark) symbol
